Join our guided Sea Kayaking tour to the Nærøyfjord and its unique mountains. Departing daily throughout our season, this tour is our most popular option for those who cannot spend more time exploring the area on our overnight tours.
The Nærøyfjord is the Pearl of them all – we are sure you will agree when you have seen and experienced the incredible Nature found here! The area is truly unique and definitely one of the most spectacular fjord areas in the world. It was in July 2005 included on UNESCO‘s prestigious list of World Heritage Parks, thus ensuring that future generations can still enjoy what we are today. We welcome this accomplishment and work actively to preserve this fantastic and natural resource.
The Nærøyfjord heritage park represents an area of total 570 square kilometres in the Counties of Sogn & Fjordane and Hordaland.
We offer guided Sea Kayaking tours taking you to the heart of this fantastic area.
Surrounded by Mountains and Glaciers it represents in reality the popular image of the famous Norwegian fjords.
If you plan to visit this area, make sure you do see it from the seat of a kayak - it is probably the most harmonic way to experience the fjords, while enjoying the fresh air and beautiful scenery.
The trip begins at 09:00 at our floating base in Voss from where transport to the fjord is included – you can also choose to meet us at our Sea Kayaking center in Gudvangen by 10:00 if you prefer that. Our trips usually return to Gudvangen by 5:00pm and back in Voss by 6.30pm (timings based on our standard schedule may alter on busier days).
If you are coming up from Bergen, meeting in Voss is the better option for you. If you are staying in Flåm or Aurland, meeting in Gudvangen will be the easier option.
The drive from Voss to Gudvangen, our starting place at the Nærøyfjord, is very scenic. On our way we pass the Stalheim gorge before entering the Nærøyvalley leading down to Gudvangen at the mouth of the fjord.
The Nærøyfjord, Gudvangen and the valley leading up to Stalheim has been a popular tourism destination for almost 150 years - not without a reason – the scenery is spectacular and here we will be spending our day Kayaking!
At our base in Gudvangen our guide first go through the plans for the tour before we get you equipped with your personal paddle gear for the tour. We set up our Kayaks for best comfort and host a Kayak Safety briefing before getting on the water. Our guide will ensure an unforgettable fun time for all the members of the groups they lead.
We paddle into the very heart of the UNESCO World Heritage Park in our kayaks and leave all roads behinds us as we take you to the special places only accessible by kayaks and small boats. Norway in a nutshell! We paddle past small local farms, waterfalls, green forest clad mountains – during spring and early summer these mountains are still snow covered on the top. We stop a few times during the day at hidden gems and get out to stretch our legs and take a well deserved rest. Groups are usually relatively small with 2-9 paddlers plus our guide.
Guides will share their knowledge about the area and local history and culture with you, providing an insight to life along the fjords from early settlement until today. The area is rich in interesting Geological feautures, has a rich Fauna adapted to the special climate prevailing in the fjords. All in all a fantastic day out and highly recommended by many independent travelers as well as most leading Travel guides.
No previous experience is required in order to join any of our tours and our guides will ensure everybody will have a great day out. We provide all equipment, instruction and transport from Voss if you prefer to meet there rather than at our base in Gudvangen.
Our daytour is fully catered and we serve a delicious BBQ style lunch cooked in the outdoors, refreshments are included. No need to bring your own food. We cater for all food requirements if notified in advance when booking. We also have a place where you can store suitcases/belongings that you will not be needing on the trip at our base. Just ask a member of staff and they can organize this for you.
