When to go? The summer season is in general the better time of the year to visit Norway, we divide this part of the year into 3 parts; Pre-summer from mid-april to end June, Peak Season from early July to end August and Late season from early September to mid October. Each part of the season has it's advantages and disadvantages for travelling as with any other destination.

Where to fly to? Most international flights take you to either Bergen or Oslo airport. Bergen is situated in Western Norway in a fjord setting while Oslo is in Eastern Norway in the flatlands. In our opinion you can cover most points of interest in either of these cities in a couple of days, Bergen has a nicer location and much shorter travel times to the unique fjords and mountains of Norway, making it our recommended choice. Main entry points for Bergen is via London, Amsterdam, Copenhagen or several other European cities. For Low budget travellers it may also be worthwhile looking into flying to Haugesund and then travel up the coastline by ferry or bus. It is also possible to rent a car from either of these destinations and drive to Voss - worthile considering as this option may provide more flexibility and make you independent from public means of transport.

Where can I find the best travel deals to Norway? Use your regular search engine for looking up cheap flights in advance. Some of the airlines that links Norway to Europe are: Norwegianwww.norwegian.no - SAS www.sasbraathens.no- Ryanair www.ryanair.com- If you plan to enter Norway by car there are several ports of connection, here are some links: Colorline: www.colorline.no Fjordline: www.fjordline.com DFDS: www.dfdsseaways.com

Do I need to pre-book my entire journey, hotels, hostels, trains, buses etc? NO - in general Norway is a VERY easy country to make up your plans as you go and you will except for the middle of Peak season ( Early July to Mid/late August ) quite easily be able to find accommodation while here, allowing you to be flexible on plans and calculate things such as weather into your travel plans. Get your airfare or ferry ride booked and confirmed, maybe the first few nights accommodation and otherwise be as flexible as possible.

Transport to and from our Base may be available from your accommodation. We can arrange a pick-up from your accommodation in Voss and bring you to our base at the lakeside. Should your place of accommodation be on our way to the fjords we can also pick you up from there, thus saving you precious travel time and costs. Call us for details. For groups, pick up from Bergen may be available. Ask us!

What should I see while in Norway? Depending on the length on your stay and whether you prefer to be based at each place for a few days or be on continious move we have made a few suggested routes that you may follow in order to see some truly unique places. It is our belief that time is better spent in the regions that makes Norway a different and unique destination - rather than big city life that can be found anywhere. Must see places are definately the fjord region, some of the central mountain regions and the coastal region which together make up some of the fantastic nature Norway is famous for. Don't be afraid to go off the beaten track but always seek local advice before setting out as quick weather changes are possible and good quality gear can make a big difference.

Accommodation - most value for your money. For local stays in Voss we cooperate with good value places that will suit all budgets and these are all of good standards and well managed.
